Background & Overview
The mission of the Behavioral Health Services (BHS) department includes the provision of prevention, at-risk and intensive services and support to all schools. By providing an array of services including professional development, consultation, crisis intervention and direct services, the BHS department has led the behavioral health work in the district. The development of community partnerships is fundamental to this mission.. Partnerships include: mental health agencies, city and state agencies, hospitals, universities and community based partners. To accomplish that end, BHS leads the Boston School Based Behavioral Health Collaborative (BSBBHC).
Grant Description
This grant will serve the Boston Public Schools district which currently has 121 schools and 48,000 students. Funding from this grant will provide stipends for 40 interns a year (15 in school psychology, 15 in social work, and 10 in school counseling), funding a total of 200 interns in the 5-year project period. All schools and students will be impacted by this grant because the funding will increase the number, quality, and diversity of interns, as well as the quality of training and support for supervisors and staff. This grant will enable BPS to more effectively convert interns into employees in order to fill vacancies in the district, and will also support retention of mental health providers. Finally, this project is intended to increase the racial and linguistic diversity of new hires to BPS, allowing us to more effectively serve students in Boston.
Position Summary And General Responsibilities
This position will support the functioning of the Boston School Based Behavioral Health Collaborative (BSBBHC) including partnership development, data collection and partnership professional development.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
Professional Development
In partnership with Office of Social Work, Counseling departments and university partners develop the professional development events for the year
Complete all operational needs for professional development
Secure speakers and space, post on Vector, create invites and Zoom links, track PD data
Participate in BHS Leadership team and BHS Implementation
Facilitate BSBBHC Monthly Meetings
Data Collection & Management
Manage data collection and analysis at all phases of grant implementation including:
track attendance at professional development
Analysis pre/post surveys
Complete reports on professional development activities
Collect stakeholder feedback on professional development needs
Use data to inform future professional development
Grant Management:
Purchasing all materials and subscriptions
Securing and payment for meeting spaces and annual conference
Seek all required DOE grant purchasing approvals
Complete all required paperwork
Coordinate the annual BSBBHC conference and monthly professional learning services
Manage/Pay all stipends and grant related expenses
Data Collection and Analysis
Support the collection of Mental Health (MH) partner information and services
Produce annual report of MH partner services
Manage the data access of MH partners in BPS
Complete all necessary data analysis and presentation for grant reporting purposes
Qualifications - Required:
Masters degree in business management, mental health or related field
Experience with project management include payroll, reporting and event planning
Attention to detail and comfortable working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Significant experience in coordinating among people, organizations and external partners.
Experience with grant management
Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualifications - Preferred:
~ Minimum of five years of professional experience in an urban setting
