Job Description

The Sr. Visual Space Planner is responsible for partnering with Category Management and other cross functional leads to develop and execute merchandising strategies that drive incremental sales and gross margin for Advance Auto Parts through space productivity. The Sr. Visual Space Planner will be an expert in system-based floorplan management & reporting, managing multiple project timelines, and upholding Advance Auto Parts merchandising guidelines. This role is also responsible for providing space planning guidelines to maximize efficient inventory replenishment principles, as well as sales driving plans, based on data analysis. Responsibilities include analysis (40%) partnering with Category Management on space related analysis during line review process, identifying space optimization opportunities, using Microsoft database applications, SQL queries, and Excel to pull and interpret reports, understanding Portfolio Role & Intent and effective metrics. Communication (35%) involves close partnership with merchandising and real estate leads, effective communication with strategic business partners, supporting stores by articulating merchandising instructions and responding to store requests within 24-48 hours, and communicating solutions within the Category Management Timeline. Process (15%) includes understanding and adhering to Floorplan and Category Management milestones, upholding Visual Merchandising guidelines, and being flexible to business needs. Floorplan Accuracy, Merchandising & Systems (10%) involves executing special project floorplans, partnering with field partners, understanding floorplan mapping in system-based environment, partnering with Planogram team to ensure mapping reflects current prototypes, and creating merchandising floorplans that match strategy and construction layout. Qualifications include proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), intermediate Blue Yonder Systems and/or SQL experience, preferred intermediate AutoCad and/or Space Management experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to leverage critical thinking and problem solve using large data sets. Required technical skills include visual merchandising acumen, merchandising strategies knowledge, planogram creation experience, detail orientation, and business acumen. Leadership skills required are ownership, self-development, innovation, influence, and collaboration. Experience required is 5-7 years of retail and/or project management experience; education required is a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Design or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Location & Work Availability: Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote) at corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC with occasional travel. Benefits include comprehensive health & wellness support.
