We are seeking a skilled, dynamic and dependable Video Technician to join our team in delivering high-quality video production and technical support for live events including concerts, festivals, corporate gatherings, and special events for local and out-of-town productions. This position includes weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. 

 

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with LED walls, video projection, and video monitors, with a keen understanding of how to manage and operate visual technology in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. This role requires a deep technical knowledge of video systems, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with production teams to ensure seamless execution of live events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • LED Walls & Displays:
    • Setup, operation, and troubleshooting of large-scale LED walls for live events.
    • Ensure the proper alignment, brightness, and color calibration of LED displays.
    • Perform regular maintenance checks and minor repairs as needed.
  • Video Projection Systems:
    • Install, calibrate, and operate video projectors for events.
    • Troubleshoot issues related to video projection including signal interruptions, display misalignments and focus problems.
    • Work with content teams to ensure proper video mapping and screen usage.
  • Video Monitors for Live Events:
    • Set up and configure video monitors for backstage, front-of-house and audience viewing.
    • Manage video feeds and monitor signal routing during live events.
    • Perform signal distribution and routing to various monitors across the venue.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide on-site technical support, troubleshooting equipment failures, signal issues and other related problems during events.
    • Respond to equipment issues in real-time, minimizing downtime and ensuring the success of the event.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with event production teams, lighting designers, sound technicians and stagehands to ensure seamless integration of video equipment.
    • Coordinate with directors and producers to ensure the desired video effects are achieved.
    • Ensure all video-related equipment is prepared, tested and ready before event start times.
  • Maintenance and Inventory:
    • Maintain a detailed inventory of video equipment and ensure all systems are in top working condition.
    • Regularly test and inspect video equipment for upcoming events.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while handling electrical equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and event-specific requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Video Technician, with specific expertise in LED walls, video projection and video monitors for live events.
    • Familiarity with video production software and hardware such as Watchout, Resolume, Barco, Christie projectors, etc.
    • Experience working with live event production, including concerts, festivals, corporate events and special events.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in operating and troubleshooting LED wall systems, video projectors and video distribution equipment.
    • Knowledge of video signal flow, HDMI, SDI and other common video formats.
    • Experience in setting up and managing video playback systems (e.g., media servers, video routers).
  • Communication & Teamwork:
    • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, event coordinators and production teams.
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and calmly in a live event setting.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
    • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding and in various venue environments.
  • Education & Certifications:
    • Degree in a related field (e.g., Broadcast Engineering, Audio-Visual Technology) is a plus but not required.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., Video Technology, Event Production, or AV certifications) are a bonus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with 3D projection mapping.
  • Experience with wireless video transmission.
  • Familiarity with color grading and video editing software.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks during events.

Compensation:

  • Compensation for this role is based on the candidate's day rate as an Independent Contractor . The rate will be determined based on experience and scope of each individual project.

  • Must be willing to submit to background and drug checks .
