Responsibilities

Yotta is in the process of staffing up our production team located in Los Angeles, with talented game professionals to build our first cross-platform AAA open world game project. We are looking for a Cinematics Designer who will report to the Cinematics Director and collaborate with the narrative team, animation team and other design teams to create a visually and narratively-compelling experience for players.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Work with Cinematic Director to animate camera movements and camera effects in cutscenes, taking cameras from preliminary stages all the way to final polish and implementation;
• Assist with motion capture shoots, from prep to shooting to implementation of assets;
• Design and animate early stage cinematics using previz animations;
• Animate cameras and design action for AAA quality cinematic gameplay sequences;
• Collaborate with lighting artists, animators, and designers to create a cohesive and visually stunning experience for the players;
• Teach other team members about the finer points of camera movement in AAA game design.

Qualifications

We Expect You To Have:

• Bachelor degree or above;
• Over 3 years working experience in game Cinematics Design (or similar role);
• Participated in the production of at least 1 shipped AAA games in the Cinematics Designer (or similar) role;
• A deep understanding of cinematography concepts and their application to games, specifically: movement, blocking, framing, lenses, lighting, and color theory;
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5;
• Highly self-motivated, great communication skills and team spirit;
• Passion for the game industry.

Even Better If You Have:

• Experience directing motion capture and voice over actors;
• Significant animation experience;
• Experience implementing and triggering cutscenes in Unreal;
• Experience working with international teams in different time zones.

Additional Information

• Important Note: Please submit your Cinematics / 3D Animation reel in order to be considered for the role. Applications without a portfolio submitted will not be considered.
• This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles;
• Current working hours: Monday – Friday, 11am – 8pm Pacific Time (including one-hour break);
• Salary depending on experience.
