Director Of Government Affairs

ClearPath's mission is to accelerate American innovation to reduce global energy emissions. An entrepreneurial, strategic nonprofit, ClearPath collaborates with public and private sector stakeholders on innovations in nuclear energy, carbon capture, hydropower, natural gas, geothermal, energy storage, critical minerals, and heavy industry to enable private-sector deployment of critical technologies. Started in 2014 by entrepreneur Jay Faison, ClearPath engages in the direct education of policymakers within the White House, Congress, Executive Agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior, and regulators.

Job Summary

ClearPath's Director of Government Affairs will support outreach and education to members and staff in the House of Representatives and the Senate. The individual should have a strong strategic perspective and will help execute those strategies to help the team achieve the ClearPath mission. This position plays a pivotal role within the ClearPath policy and advocacy effort, working collaboratively across organizational functions to advance our mission and vision, including on ClearPath's tax priorities. Thoroughness and strong organizational capabilities are key to success in this role. This person will interact with the broader ClearPath team to support the mission, but directly report to ClearPath's Head of Government Affairs.

• Build and grow direct relationships with members and staff for the purpose of effectively educating on ClearPath's top policy objectives.
• Lead and collaborate cross-functionally with members of the government affairs and policy teams to develop strategy for federal policy priorities to accelerate breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies.
• Help logistically set up and participate in educational events for Congress and the Administration.
• Track and ensure that all follow up steps and execution from meetings are completed.
• Monitor and communicate relevant legislative and federal policy developments, particularly the introduction, addition of cosponsors, mark-up, or passage of legislation.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with government, non-government organizations, and industry groups that align with ClearPath's objectives, including representing ClearPath in regular coalition work as needed.
• Identify and recommend to ClearPath leadership outside stakeholders, grantees, contracts, research initiatives and partnerships that can further the mission in owned work streams.
• Compose formal communications to congressional staff including correspondence, and memos.
• Assist with the submission of compliance reporting as needed.
• Maintain and strategically improve the NationBuilder CRM database with meeting notes, contacts, and action items ensuring lists are up to date and accurate.

Qualifications

• 8 or more years of experience in a related field-- government relations, public policy, federal agency, Capitol Hill, clean energy. Prior advocacy experience preferred.
• Experience developing projects from the start and seeing them through completion.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Comfort with technology, ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems
• Excellent communicator
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google equivalents
• Ability and willingness to work nontraditional hours based on events
• A professional and personal commitment to ClearPath's mission
